Here & Now

“Life is available only in the present moment” – Thich Nhat Hanh

Here & Now brings together selected works from Nefertipi’s Memento Mori, Memento Vivere series, alongside exploration sketches and works on paper.

Drawing on the tradition of Vanitas, Tipi’s work invites us to consider how we experience the present: how we construct our identities, what we value, what we desire, and how we connect with one another and the world around us.

Ancient symbols meet contemporary imagery. Skulls, flowers, crowns and other references to Vanitas appear alongside smartphones, social media, fashion and popular culture, creating a visual language that moves between the historical and the contemporary. 

All as a reminder of the value of being present.

Here & Now is a celebration of life in all its complexity, of connection, pleasure, beauty, individuality and the moments that make up our experience. 

It asks us not simply to contemplate the passage of time, but to notice where we are, who we are with, and how we choose to live it.

About Nefer tipi

Nefer tipi is a multidisciplinary artist based in Hackney Wick, London. Through painting, street art and sculpture, she explores the passage of time, identity, the pressures of contemporary life and what it means to live consciously.

Having grown up around art and antiques, Tipi is influenced by the symbolism and visual language of Old Master paintings, 17th-century Vanitas, antique art, and South American pre-Columbian and colonial traditions. Her recent work brings these historical references into dialogue with contemporary culture, pop iconography and postmodern spiritual symbolism, exploring how ideas of life, mortality and meaning shift across time and cultures.
